Kiten

kiten-1Kiten resort is located in southeastern Bulgaria, on the Black Sea coast, 55 km south of Bourgas, 5 km south of the municipal center Primorsko and 12 kilometers northwest of the center of the neighboring municipality of Tsarevo. It is situated north of the mouth of Kitenska River, and a part of it is located on the small peninsula Urdoviza.

 

kiten3The main features of the terrain in Kiten which are essential for tourism are its two picturesque bays - Karaagach and Atliman (with sand dunes) and its beaches. The beaches are perhaps the main natural resource which determines the development of Kiten as a resort village and a site suitable for summer vacations. The town of Kiten has two sandy beaches with a total area of approximately 145,000 m2.

 

The environmental situation of Kiten is determined by its location in a relatively ecologically clean area. Near the resort there are no enterprises of heavy (or light) industry nor major ports. The resort is located adjacent to the natural park "Strandzha" declared to be such back in 1995. It covers an area of 116,133 hectares and is one of the largest ones in the country.
