Albena

Albena is a resort located in northeastern Bulgaria, Dobrich District, 8 km from the town of Balchik, 30 km from the towns of Dobrich and Varna, and 500 km northeast of Sofia. The beach is 5 km long and 150 m wide.

The resort was officially opened on 24 August 1969. The complex has many modern hotels, located so as to have view of the beach and good sun exposure.

Albena resort is very suitable for family holidays. It is relatively quiet compared to the larger resorts such as Sunny Beach and Golden Sands. Only 10 km from Albena is situated the Botanical Garden of Balchik, containing unique plants, as well as the architectural park complex The Palace, the former residence of Queen Mary in the early 20th century. Albena is also located close to the Balata Reserve which is a dense forest near Batova river.
