Rogachevo

The village of Rogachevo is located 28 km north of Varna, 25 km from Varna airport and 4 km from Albena resort. Nearby are two professional golf courses and a golf academy.

The village is known for its crystal clear air, healthy climate and great number of sunny days during the year. Rogachevo is proclaimed to be a bio-atmospheric reserve.

Information about the past of the village is scarce. In the vicinity were found some cemeteries dating back from I-II century BC. They show that there was life here back from the time of the Thracians. During the centuries of Ottoman rule the village was called GEK Chiller. It is known that the village was Circassian. Bulgarians came here mainly from the village of Vaysal in Eastern Thrace. It is difficult to determine exactly when they settled in these places. After the regain of Southern Dobrudza to Bulgaria, locals insisted the new name of the village to be Elenovo. However, the proposal was not accepted. In 1942 by the idea of the local priest, the village was renamed Rogachevo.
