Primorsko

primorsko-1Primorsko is situated on a peninsula jutting out into the Black Sea between the lagoon bay Stamopolu Bay and Devil's Bay, at the foot of Strandzha mountain peaks. These are the largest and longest beaches on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. It was declared a national tourist beach resort in 1953. There are conditions for different types of tourism, including cultural, eco-tourism, rural tourism, fishing, hunting, sports tourism and more. Nature has given our resorts various and unique natural resources. Essential for the development of tourism are the beaches with a total area of 1,045 thousand square meters, as just the protected dunes are 523 thousand square meters

A coastal scenic road connects the town of Primorsko with all Black Sea resorts - Kiten, Duni, Sozopol, Burgas, Nessebar, Varna, etc. The town is located 60 km from the international airport of Sarafovo, Burgas, and three kilometers from here there is a local Primorsko airport for small planes with a runway length of 950 m.primorsko-2

Near Primorsko lies a virgin world of dense forests, sand dunes and marsh flowers. Here is the reserve "Ropotamo" declared as such in 1940. It extends on both sides of the eponymous river on an area of 1000 ha. It is composed of smaller reserves, namely "Arkutino" - marsh lagoon with rich flora, "Snake Island" - famous for its cacti and snakes, "Sea Wormwood" – under the name of the sea wormwood herb that grows here and which is used in pharmacy, and "Water Lilies" – covering a kind of Lily garden in the old river bed. Ropotamo river is 50 km long and is formed by the two rivers Rosenska  and Tserovska springing from Strandzha. The boat ride to the mouth of the river is one of the most popular attractions in the region.

primorsko3The coastline along the Black Sea from the resort of "Duni" to the town of Primorsko is relatively intensely saturated with monuments of the Thracian Early Iron Age, the Antiquity and the Middle Ages. The three Thracian fortresses here - Little Kale, Valchanovo Kale, and Maslen nos are part of a larger chain system. The Thracian sanctuary-observatory Beglik Tash is situated in the slopes of Maslen nos and represents a circle of huge stones, through which sunlight passes at moments of solstice and equinox, forming a kind of calendar. This is the oldest ever found Thracian megalithic sanctuary along our coast and the Southeastern Thrace. The Thracian fortress Little Kale lies about 3 km northwest of wetland "Alepu" ("The Fox") on the highest peak namesake. Sweeping panoramic views are open here covering the whole area of the wetland, which was linked to the life of the Thracians who inhabited it mostly during the period between XI-I century BC. It was declared a cultural monument of local importance and is located 4 kilometers east of the village of Veselie.
